70 Colorado students honored at the CFMC Top Performer Recitals.
(Littleton, CO) May 13, 2009 — The Colorado Federation of Music Clubs hosted the 2009 Top Performer Recitals, featuring the winners of the CFMC State Music Competition. Recitals were held on April 26, 2009 at South Suburban Christian Church.
“The recitals were phenomenal. To hear so many talented performers made for an amazing day,” said Jodie Jensen, President of the Colorado Federation of Music Clubs. At this year’s state competition, CFMC teachers pooled their resources together to hold an auction to benefit Rockley’s Music. “Rockley’s Music has always been a strong supporter of CFMC. When we heard all that they lost in the fire, we wanted to do what we could to show our support for them during this difficult time,” said Janet Ali, Denver South Area Chairman. The fire at Rockley’s occurred days before the state competition, and teachers worked together quickly to create a last minute fundraiser. The result? Over $1200 raised and presented to Rockley’s Music.
According to the Colorado Federation of Music Clubs, the top performer awards reflect the best in musical performance, technique, and artistry. Each year, nine areas from around Colorado hold festivals, and judges choose the top students from each area to go on to the state level. Almost 500 students competed at the state competition, and 70 students performed at the State’s Top Performer Recitals. A Composition Recital was also held to feature the winners of the composition competition.
