AWAKENING THE COMPOSER

This workshop is for the teacher who has a desire to teach music composition, but isnʼt quite sure about how to get started, or even how to identify prospective young composers. This class is a non-technical, process-oriented, activity-centered, fun class designed to shake loose your cobwebs, make you think quickly, be spontaneous, think outside the box, investigate the space inside the box, alter your perceptions, and explore “sound” itself.

INTRODUCTION TO SIBELIUS

This workshop is for those who are new to the Sibelius notation software. Topics
to be discussed will include; page setup, instrument selection, various ways of inputting
notes and symbols, page navigation, the toolbar, MIDI setup, setting up preferences,
and your questions.

CONTINUING SIBELIUS

This workshop is for those who have a working knowledge of Sibelius, or have taken the Introduction to Sibelius workshop. Topics to be discussed will include carryover material from the Introduction workshop. As well, this workshop will be “open-ended.” Consequently, participants should bring in projects to work on or be prepared to ask questions about specific topics in order to clarify their knowledge of Sibelius.
